It has been a minute since I last blogged but I have kept the pages turning, not as much as I would like but still turning. As I look back on my reading, I see that I a bit of a mixed bag, new reads, rereads and more in a series. Just as I did for for summer, below is a short summary review (rating and what I liked or not) of the books I read in September.
New Books
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore - Five stars. This book lives up to all of the hype, great characters and a surprise ending.
Bellevue by Robin Robin Cook - Four starts. This was an ARC. Liked the historical aspects but did not like the supernatural.
The Best Friends by Lucinda Berry - Three stars. The description was promising, lifelong friends face a crisis, mysterious death on a child at a sleepover. This book lost its way.
The Wedding People by Alison Espach - Three stars. On the plus side, the main character is so funny with many LOL moments. However, this book just went on too long and the ending was predictable.
Whisper Network by Chandler Baker - Three stars. "Me too" story set in the law department of a public company. Fell a little short on being realistic.
One By One by Ruth Ware - Three stars. Great concept, corporate retreat participants get trapped in resort. However, there were things that happened that made no sense.
Rereads
The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand - Five stars. I forgot how good this book is. I read this in anticipation of the Netflix series. If you are someone who expects the TV version to be like the book, you will be disappointed with the Netflix version.
Firefly Lane by Elin Hilderbrand - Five stars. This is one of my favorite books of all time and I grow tired of it.
More in a Series
The Reversal by Michael Connelly - Three stars. Third in the Mickey Haller Lincoln Lawyer series. Not my favorite in this series, the ending was horrible.
Worst Case by James Patterson and Michael Ledwick. Five stars. Third in the Michael Bennett series and the best one so far.
That is a wrap for September. As you watch the leaves fall, keep turning those pages....
