I recently heard that one of my favorite authors, Elin Hilderbrand, is going to be publishing her last book set on Nantucket. In preparation for her Swan Song, she has reissued two books, one of which is The Castaways. On the one hand, I am sad to hear that these Nantucket books are coming to an end but, on the other hand, I am happy to reread these novels.

The Castaways was originally published in 2009 and I read it around that time. My goodness, that has been a hot minute, 15 years to be exact. My children were in fourteen and eight, we had just moved to a new city and I was starting a new job. I digress.

The Castaways is actually the group name of the four couples who are friends. Early in the book, one of the couples is killed in a boating incident. The the remaining couples are left to pick up the pieces and figure out what happened on the boat. As they work through their grief, secrets are revealed and relationships shift.

While not one of my favorite Elin Hilderbrand book, I still enjoyed the revisit to Nantucket and the reconnection with The Castaways. Worth the trip.

Until next time, keep turning pages....
