It is hard to believe the summer of 2024 has come and gone. So many books, so little time....Overall, this summer had some winners and some that did not quite live up to the hype. Back in June, I published my summer reading list that contained ten books I planned to read over the summer. Based upon that list, I read eight of the ten books. However, I also read many more that were not on my list.

Here is my wrap up of the books I read over the summer, the ones that I liked and would recommend and those that should stay on the shelf:

  1. The #1 Lawyer by James Patterson - five stars, loved this book and I hope to see more books with this main character, Stafford Lee Penny.

  2. The Only One Left by Riley Sager - five stars, what a great thriller, my first (and not my last) by Riley Sager.

  3. The Last One by Will Dean - two stars, so many positive reviews and this one fell flat for me. Leave this on the shelf.

  4. Swan Song by Elin Hilderbrand - five stars, so sorry this is her last novel but what a strong finish.

  5. All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker - five stars, I could not put this book down. Absolutely lived up to the reviews.

  6. The Next Mrs. Parish by Liv Constantine - three stars (generous). Not believable and I don't need a third. Leave this one on the shelf.

  7. Husbands and Lovers by Beatriz Williams - five stars. Loved the historical aspects of this book. Could not put it down. My first book by Ms, Williams and not my last.

  8. A Happier Life by Kristy Woodson Harvey - five stars. Great beginning that drew me and and kept me engaged. Lived up to the high reviews.

  9. Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera - four stars. Great characters and the audio book narrators were great! I thought the ending was too predictable but worth the read.

  10. The Disappearing Act by Catherine Steadman - two stars. Completely unrealistic. Leave this one on the shelf.

There are more I could add to the list but I will leave it there for now. On to the next season. In the meantime, keep turning those pages.....
